Hiking

The charming countryside offers numerous paths that wind through soft hills and fragrant meadows. From castle to castle, over hills and through colourful woods. The blue of Lake Kaltern is a refreshing contrast to the green tones and warm colours of the earth.
The best months for hiking are from March to November. In spring and autumn, the vineyards and orchards, as well as the low mountain ranges present with their beautiful mixed forests wonderful spectacles of nature.
A network of easy to medium hiking routes runs through these altitudes.
Bars and country pubs invite you to rest from your extensive hiking trips. The typical South Tyrolean lunch with Speck and Schüttelbrot (type of bread) give you plenty of energy for the way ahead.
Extreme hikers find their El Dorado, with all grades of difficulty, in the nearby Dolomites. Climbing paths and climbing tours enchant adventurers into dizzy heights.
Organised hiking tours
Organised hiking tours are offered in most villages and towns in the southern part of South Tyrol.
Tramin even offers special Culture and Vintner Hiking Weeks.
The Terlaner Asparagus Hikes give some insight into the secrets of cultivating asparagus.
In summer, excursions lead you into higher altitudes. The relaxing "Törggelen", combined with a hiking trip, is one of the autumn highlights.
