Water, Sun, Sports...

From emerald green and cobalt blue lakes to splendid swimming pools, the South Tyrolean Wine Road offers endless opportunities for swimming, sailing and soaking up South Tyrol's summer sun.

Lake Kaltern

With water temperatures up to 26 degrees Celsous, Lake Kaltern is one of the warmest lakes in the alpine area. A swimmer's oasis, Lake Kaltner's swimming season begins in mid-May and lasts until mid-October. At Kaltern's edge, a new swimming facility, the Seebad Kaltern, features an upper deck with lounge chairs and pools, and a lower "aquarium" level with dressing rooms, restaurants and cafes. Glass panels on the lower level provide a view int othe swimming pool, hence the name, "aquarium".

Tramin's Sport & Adventure Pool

Adventure pools don't just draw kids unde rtheir spell. Tramin's Sports and Adventure Pool, with a water surface of 1300 square metres, waterfalls, a whirlpool, climbing rocks and many other activities guarantee an exciting and refreshing time for the whole family.

Boating

Lake Kaltern, and nearby Lake Montiggl in Eppan, can be explored by rowboat and pedal boat, available from several rental shops. Paddling around the lake is great fun for kids and adults. A rowboat for two at sunset makes for an especially romantic outing.

Fishing

The South Tyrol is also an angler's paradise, with fishing permitted in Lake Kaltern, Lake Montiggl, and Lake Fennberg, as well as in the tributaries of the River Etsch.
