Pfatten / Vadena
Situated between Mitterberg and the River Etsch, Pfatten extends to the shores of Lake Kaltern, offering visitors a lush green scenery and extraordinary tranquillity. The ruins of Leuchtenburg and Castle Laimburg, silent witnesses of a glorious past, tower over vast plains covered with rolling vineyards and orchards.
The reputation of the Laimburg agriculture research station extends far beyond South Tyrol, and many prominent researchers work in its cellars set deep in the mountain rock. These famous cellars, are also used for the storage of fine wines, and serve as a meeting space for the South Tyrolean provincial goverment.
