Situated between Mitterberg and the River Etsch, Pfatten extends to the shores of Lake Kaltern, offering visitors a lush green scenery and extraordinary tranquillity. The ruins of Leuchtenburg and Castle Laimburg, silent witnesses of a glorious past, tower over vast plains covered with rolling vineyards and orchards.

The Research Centre for Agriculture Forestry Laimburg is famous and many prominent personalities work in its cellars in the rock. These cellars in the heart of the mountain house noble wines and are also used by the Provincial Administration of Bolzano/Bozen.
