Salurn / Salorno

Splendid Renaissance and Baroque buildings characterise the southernmost village in South Tyrol. It is situated at the Salurn defile, the Italian/German speaking boundary.
Numerous personalities such as Napoleon, Martin Luther, Albrecht Dürer and Ludwig Richter stayed here, where both cultures intertwine almost imperceptibly.
Going just a little further south, only Italian is spoken and the architectural style displays feeble northern influences.
