Salurn / Salorno
Splendid Renaissance and Baroque architecture dominate the southernmost village in South Tyrol, which lies on the Salurn, the German-Italian language border.
Numerous historical figures such as Napoleon, Martin Luther, Albrecht Dürer and Ludwig Richter were among the guests here.
While Tyrolean and italian culture meld almost imperceptibly here, only a short distance to the south, a visitor will only hear Italian, and see but a few traces of the norhern architectural styles.
When visiting Salurn, the Salurn Castle/Haderburg castle should not be missed. Percherd atop steep limestone rocks, it ist the town's most striking emblem.
