Tramin / Termeno
Venerable ancient residences with bow-windows and arched stone doors, manorial farmhouses, colorful facades, fountains and winding alleyways flooded with the regions's bright southern light.
Rolling vineyards extend all around Tramin, emanating fragrant scents and colours as warm as its people. Here the rhythm of life calls to mind the special lightness and delicate aromas that characterise the noble Gewürztraminer. Tramin is the home of this grape variety.
The symbol of Tramin is the Gothic parish church with its 86m tower, the highest free-standing stone masonry tower in South Tyrol. The small Romanesque church of St. Jakob in Kastelaz houses and protects some of the most ancient cycles of frescoes in the German-speaking area.
