Castel Sallegg

The noble culture of the wine.
To know and taste a wine is not only allegorical but also a cultural experience which continues customs and traditions over the years. This lively vigour around the creation of wine reflects and integThe modern story of the ancient Castle Sallegg starts in 1851: Archduke Rainer of Austria, Viceroy of the Lombardy and Veneto purchased the castle and surrounding wine-growing estates in that year. Continued ownership descended from Prince Heinrich Campofranco to the Counts von Kuenburg. The fine cellars in the castle are testament of landed gentry that has always connected castle living with wine creation.
The historic Castle cellars are in underground vaults that are up to eleven metres in depth. A magical place with an ancient flair, these historical structures extend over three levels. There is a constant temperature during the whole year, which is essential to ensure the perfect maturation of the wines.
The Castle has a wine tasting area - 'Vinothek im Schlosshof' - which previously was a guesthouse. This modern and inviting room has been redesigned. However, it still radiates the flair of other times.
