J. Hofstätter

Visitors to the headquarters and winery of the Josef Hofstätter estate find themselves in the main square of a bustling large village with the municipal hall, bars and the village church. The winery and offices are accommodated in a grand 16th century edifice, originally built for the Austrian Imperial post coaches and it also housed the 'Schwarzer Adler' inn.
The Hofstätter wine estate remains open from early morning until late in the evening, and with good reason! For a new wine bar with a restaurant plus a display vineyard awaits visitors in a splendid position in the heart of Tramin beside the Hofstätter wine shop. A place for socialising and conviviality has been created here. Though not just any kind of joviality, but rather the kind found only in South Tyrol at the home of the winegrower Martin Foradori.
The garden provides the opportunity for interested visitors to become acquainted with the art of winegrowing. Using the native Gewürztraminer as an example, the display vineyard shows the conditions under which vines thrive especially well and reveals how the grower can act supportively. Visitors can also touch and feel the leaves and grapes to discover their makeup. Short descriptions explain the prominent genealogy of the Gewürztraminer vine and the life cycle of the vine through the seasons.
Light and darkness, grand gestures and fine details characterise the architecture, both interior and exterior. It provides the wine-lover with plenty of space to develop according his or her own liking and in complete tranquillity. Places such as this are far from common. The Hofstätter wine estate has set new standards of its own with the superb cuisine on offer and the freely accessible display vineyard.
