Weingut Pfitscher

To be a wine-grower just for the love of it - that might be the best way to describe our attitude to our job. Since 1861, our family has been pressing wine at Ansitz Pfitscher; a tradition which we try to carry on with our whole commitment. In our cellars, we store wines exclusively from our own cultivation - wines which sooner or later mature up to South Tyrolean quality wines typical of our vineyard locations.
Ansitz Pfitscher is located in Montan, a village in the Bozner Unterland in South Tyrol with 450 meters above sea level. Altogether 8 sorts of vines are cultivated and vinified by the winemaker Klaus Pfitscher. Above all, it is natural Blue Burgundy thriving here excellently on fine-earthy and clayey soil. But also our vineyard locations in Kurtatsch and Neumarkt provide ideal conditions for the sorts of Merlot, Lagrein and the Vernatsch family. Amongst the other white wines such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Müller Thurgau and Gewürztraminer, it is the youngest child of the estate, a White Burgundy, which Klaus Pfitscher, the winemaker and head of the household, has particularly fallen for.
Each sort has its special vineyard location - that is the most important premise for optimal quality. Our bunches of grapes thrive on approximately 6 hectares in the municipalities of Montan, Neumarkt and Kurtatsch. On a sea-level of 200 to 600 meters, the vines enjoy the exquisiteness of integrated cultivation close to nature.
