The Winery

Embedded in the midst of mountains and vineyards along the South Tyrolean Wine-Road there is the wine-village called Kaltern, and it is precisely here, at Wine-Road Nr.1 is situated the vinery Ritterhof.

The small vinery is run with devotion by the Roner family from Tramin.
Traditions passed down from generation to generation and harmony with nature in combination with latest technology, are the basis of the production of fruity white and full bodied red wines.

The vinyards

The careful cultivation of the vineyards in harmony with nature is the basis of the winery's philosophy.
The micro-climate of the southern part of South Tyrol offers what is needed to be able to choose the right position for each wine. So we find in 7,5 h of Ritterhof vineyards and 40 h of contracted farmers' vineyards, a large variety of different soil qualities.

From morainic, gravely and barren soil, heavy loamy argillaceous earth, steep slopes up to spongy/lax easily to worm up sandy soils.
This richness allows optimal coordination between the vine and the cultivation system. We find the traditional Pergola as well as the Guyot system.
This harmony in the vineyard forms the basic conditions of particular wines.
