Eppan / Appiano

Eppan on the Wine Route is the largest wine growing community in South Tyrol and has 1200 hectares of vineyards that stretch from 200 m above sea level to 1600 m above sea level on the ridge of the Mendel.
There are 14,000 inhabitants in the community that includes 9 wine villages and hamlets: St. Michael, Girlan, St. Pauls, Frangart, Missian, Unterrain, Perdonig, Gaid and Montiggl.
Situated among the roaming hilly landscape are 180 castles and historical noble manor houses which give the area a special atmosphere. The neat wine villages and hamlets are flanked by the impressive mountains and thick forests which give the region a mild climate. Coupled with the many hours of sunshine that can found here, this makes it an ideal place for wine growing.
Approximately 25 wineries and 3 distilleries produce their internationally famous wines and distillates here.
The well marked network of paths is ideal for both active holiday makers and families to enjoy the beauty of the countryside including the diverse Mediterranean vegetation, two romantic lakes in the middle of the Moniggler Forest, numerous cultural and natural jewels, southern flair and naturally a multitude of high quality wines.
Weekly wine seminars, guided tours of the cellars, tours of the farms, wine sparkling wine and grappa tasting, as well as top class events about wine and numerous discovery tours and enjoyment tours through the wine and castle community of Eppan throughout the year.
