Margreid / Magrè

Margreid is an ancient, interesting village with a wine-growing tradition.
Set among lush green orchards and vineyards, it reveals architectural elements typical of the South Tyrolean style:
arched doors and double lancet windows, loggias and bow-windows, wrought-iron window grilles and restaurant signs. Picturesque alleys with Gothic bow-windows and stone fountains cap off this beautiful tranquil setting.
Located at the foot of Favogna, Margreid is a much-loved summer destination. The oldest vine in South Tyrol, planted in 1601, grows on a warm wall of a building in the Vicolo dei Conti and still produces 80 kg of grapes a year.
