Castel Sallegg

Show on map

Castel Sallegg is a place where wine, culture and history come together in the heart of Kaltern. The castle was acquired in 1851 by Archduke Rainer of Austria and later passed down to the Counts of Kuenburg. Today, it forms the centre of a 30-hectare wine estate with vineyards in top locations, spread across the historic Preyhof, Seehof and Leisenhof between 230 and 550 metres above sea level. The ancient cellar beneath the castle, over a thousand years old, is the beating heart of winemaking. Under the direction of winemaker Matthias Hauser, 17 wines and one sparkling wine. A short walk from the castle, the historic Leisenhof now hosts the Castel Sallegg Vineria – featuring wine shop, vinotheque and bistro – as well as the boutique hotel Castel Sallegg Suites with 15 stylish rooms and suites, pool and wellness area
