Montagna

Home of many award-winning Pinot Noir wines. And home to cheerful people. Thanks to the many hours of sun!

This village at the Alto Adige Wine Road is truly spoiled by the sun. It is therefore no wonder, that some of the best Pinot Noir wines from the region grow here on the hills of Montagna at altitudes of between 400 and 1,000 metres.

The entire wine growing area covers about 155 hectares, half of which are covered with white grapes, and the other half with red grapes.

Today, the village has about 1,600 inhabitants and includes the harbours of Pinzano, Doladizza, Gleno and Casignano. Spread on a sloped terrace above the Adige Valley, the villages enjoy an advantageous position in close proximity to the Dolomites road, and therefore provide a popular starting point for a round tour of the Dolomites.
